Three-time Olympic athlete Michelle Plouffe has made a comeback to join Canada’s four-player lineup for the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series event in Bangkok, Thailand. The 33-year-old athlete reunites with her twin sister Katherine Plouffe, along with teammates Cassandra Brown and Paige Crozon for the competition starting this Saturday.
Currently ranked 10th in the women’s series standings, Canada is entering a crucial phase of the season. The top seven teams, in addition to host China, will progress to the women’s series final in Shanghai on Sept. 5-6. The upcoming event in Bangkok represents one of Canada’s final chances to accumulate vital qualification points.
Steve Baur, the vice-president and general manager of Canada Basketball’s women’s high performance program, expressed confidence in Michelle’s return, stating, “As we assessed our position in the women’s series rankings and strategized for Shanghai, bringing Michelle back on board made perfect sense. Her continued involvement with our program and close ties to the team have paved the way for her return to the court.”
Michelle Plouffe, who retired on July 28, 2025, to assume the role of Canada Basketball’s 3×3 performance manager, boasts an impressive track record. She has led Canada to numerous FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series victories, secured a silver medal at the 2022 FIBA 3×3 World Cup, and achieved a fourth-place finish at the Paris Olympics.
