Vladimir Guerrero Jr., the star player for the Toronto Blue Jays, has been cleared to return to the lineup after being on the injured list for seven days. He is set to play in the upcoming game against the New York Yankees at their home stadium.
Guerrero sustained an injury during a game against the Yankees last week in Toronto. The incident occurred when he collided with George Lombard Jr., a rookie shortstop for New York, during a play at third base in the sixth inning. Despite the collision that caused Guerrero’s helmet to come off, he managed to score a run before leaving the game.
After undergoing final concussion tests and participating in a minor league rehab game for single-A Dunedin, Guerrero rejoined the Blue Jays on Friday. He showed positive progress by taking swings in the batting cage and has been included in the batting lineup for Saturday’s game, where he will bat second.
In preparation for Guerrero’s return, the Blue Jays made a roster move by sending Davis Schneider, an infielder/outfielder, to triple-A Buffalo. Guerrero, who holds a batting average of .263 with seven home runs and 46 RBIs, had been on a hot streak before the injury, hitting .310 in his last seven games.
