Fleetwood received over £750,000 in prize money, while McIlroy shared a £752,000 payout with Nicolai Højgaard for their combined third and fourth-place finish. Despite starting the final round six shots behind leader Rai, McIlroy’s impressive 62 propelled him back into contention, although it was not enough to claim victory.
McIlroy finished at 24 under par, leading to a tense finish where Fleetwood and Rai both made critical putts on the 17th hole, tying at 25 under heading into the final hole. Reflecting on his recovery from a setback, including a missed putt at the 14th hole, Rai credited his caddie for providing crucial support and guidance.
