Dust tends to accumulate in various areas around the house like windowsills, blinds, skirting boards, and wooden floors.
While there are many floor cleaning products tailored for hardwood floors, a simple solution may already be in your kitchen cupboard.
Experts at All Kleen recommend using black tea to clean and rejuvenate hardwood floors.
They explain that black tea contains tannins which act as a gentle stain to enhance the natural tones of the wood flooring.
The acidity of tannins helps to cut through dirt, dust, and grease, preventing a build-up over time.
To use this method, you will need around eight to 10 tea bags. The more tea bags you use, the richer the stain color will be.
For darker floors, use eight to 10 tea bags, while for lighter floors, opt for 10 to 12 tea bags. If the color is too dark, you can dilute it with more water.
Before mopping, ensure to vacuum or sweep the floors to remove dust and debris. Boil half a gallon of water, steep the tea bags for 10 to 15 minutes, then let the tea cool to a warm temperature before pouring it into a bucket.
Test the tea on a hidden area of the floor before proceeding to mop. Wring out the mop well and mop in the direction of the wood grain.
Once the entire floor is mopped, allow it to dry, revealing a refreshed and shining wooden surface.
