David Harbour’s ‘sinister’ message to Lily Allen has resurfaced with the launch of her latest album. In her new music release, titled West End Girl, Lily reflects on the end of her marriage to the Stranger Things actor.
Within the album, Lily seemingly references the individual David purportedly had an affair with, and also shares her experience transitioning back to London after relocating to New York City for him, noting a shift in their relationship upon her return.
One track in particular includes the lyrics: “I said I got some good news I got the lead in a play, that’s when your demeanour started to change,” likely alluding to her role in 2:22 A Ghost Story.
Lily, recognized for her performance in the play with a Laurence Olivier award nomination, previously disclosed a note from David, now deemed “sinister” by fans. The note humorously conveyed: “My ambitious wife, these are bad luck flowers, ’cause if you get reviewed well in this play you will get all kinds of awards and I’ll be miserable. Your loving husband.”
Reactions to the note varied among fans, with some interpreting it as sarcastic and darkly humorous, while others criticized its lack of support during a significant moment for Lily.
Lily has candidly shared that her new album delves into a spectrum of emotions, including themes of “abandonment.” She expressed grappling with feelings of rejection and abandonment, particularly following the end of her marriage, highlighting her struggle with dependency and the pursuit of personal happiness.
