A powerful explosion from a car occurred at a bustling station in New Delhi, resulting in the death of at least ten individuals and injuring multiple others, as per reports.
Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene following the detonation of a parked vehicle close to Red Fort Metro Station, causing extensive damage to surrounding vehicles and structures. Footage captured post-explosion revealed a scene of devastation with charred cars and debris strewn across the vicinity, prompting a rapid deployment of fire crews to contain the ensuing flames that engulfed several vehicles.
Reports from local sources confirm the loss of ten lives and numerous injuries, with many casualties transported to Delhi’s LNJP hospital for treatment, as per ANI.
An eyewitness who observed the flames from his residence described the harrowing experience of the explosion, which caused nearby residents to be thrown to the ground. “Seeing the flames from my home and then witnessing the explosion, I feared for my life,” shared local resident Rajdhar Pandey. “The blast was deafening. I reside in the vicinity.”
A local vendor recounted the intensity of the explosion, stating, “I have never encountered such a loud blast before in my life. The force of the explosion caused me to fall multiple times, creating a sense of impending doom for all of us.” Another witness mentioned, “Upon approaching the site, we saw scattered body parts on the road. The situation was chaotic, with multiple vehicles sustaining damage.”
Law enforcement officials in Delhi are actively investigating the cause of the car explosion. AK Malik, Deputy Chief Fire Officer at New Delhi’s Fire Department, stated, “Upon receiving information about a car blast near Chandni Chowk Metro Station, we promptly dispatched seven units to the location. By 7:29 PM, the fire was successfully contained. There is a possibility of casualties. Our teams are currently on-site.”
