EE has unveiled an enhanced version of its Scam Guard service to combat the increasing number of scams targeting mobile users in the UK. The upgrade, priced at £2 per month for all EE pay-monthly customers, aims to provide improved protection against cyber threats.
Since its initial launch in 2024, Scam Guard has already thwarted 169 million scam and spam attempts. With the updated version, EE anticipates doubling the prevention of scams over the next year.
The upgraded Scam Guard features AI Triple-Lock Protection, a set of digital safety measures powered by Norton’s Genie AI engine. This includes Safe Email, offering proactive scam protection for email accounts, Safe SMS for detecting advanced scams in text messages, and Safe Web to block malicious sites while online shopping or browsing.
Additionally, the new Scam Guard introduces Scam Assistant, enabling customers to receive instant feedback on the safety of texts, emails, websites, and more. Social Media Monitoring and Dark Web Monitoring alert users of suspicious online activities for prompt action.
Malcolm Cubitt, Director of Product, Mobile at EE, emphasized the importance of evolving security measures in response to the rising sophistication of fraud. He highlighted EE’s commitment to customer protection through innovations like the enhanced Scam Guard service, reinforcing their dedication to cyber security.
By leveraging advanced AI technology and an array of protective features, EE aims to equip its customers with robust defense mechanisms against evolving cyber threats.
