The stabbing took place at Midhurst Gardens, with a 49-year-old man succumbing to his injuries at the scene, a 45-year-old man sustaining life-changing injuries, and a 14-year-old boy being wounded but in stable condition.

Authorities confirmed that the incident is not linked to terrorism and are actively investigating the relationship between the suspect and the victims. A 22-year-old man was apprehended on suspicion of murder and attempted murder at the scene. Video footage capturing the arrest showed police officers pursuing the suspect, with one officer deploying a Taser before the suspect was subdued.

Neighbors described the victim, Wayne Broadhurst, as an ordinary individual who was out walking his dog when the attack occurred. Commemorative gestures, including laying flowers and lighting candles, were observed near the crime scene, demonstrating community support for the victims. Chief Superintendent Jill Horsfall condemned the violence as senseless and assured the community of ongoing police presence to provide reassurance while investigations continue.
