“Fitbit Air: Affordable, Screen-free Fitness Monitoring”

Must read

Fitbit, known for aiding users in staying active for more than 15 years, has introduced a new device called the Fitbit Air. This latest offering, devoid of a screen, presents a more affordable and streamlined approach to monitoring daily fitness levels. Resembling the popular Whoop bands in appearance, the Fitbit Air is designed to be worn like a stylish accessory on the wrist.

While the absence of a screen means functionalities like reading messages and checking heart rate are omitted, the Fitbit Air boasts significant advantages. It provides a comfortable fit akin to a bracelet-style strap rather than a traditional smartwatch, as confirmed by a recent study conducted by Google, rating it more comfortable than its top competitors.

The Fitbit Air ensures a week-long battery life without requiring removal for recharging. Moreover, with rapid charging capabilities, just five minutes of charging can provide a day’s worth of power. The device comes with a new magnetic charger featuring bi-directional technology, eliminating the need to worry about placement when recharging.

Despite its minimalist design, the Fitbit Air retains core Fitbit functionalities. It monitors various metrics such as nightly sleep, activity levels, daily exercise, heart rate, and can even detect conditions like AFib, notifying users of irregular heart rhythms. Embedded features include an optical heart rate monitor, a 3-axis accelerometer, a gyroscope, red and infrared sensors for oxygen saturation, and a temperature sensor.

Since there is no screen, all data collected is directly transmitted to smartphones, where the Google Health Coach compiles an overarching view of the user’s health. The Fitbit Air is waterproof up to 50 meters and will be offered in four colors: Obsidian, Fog, Berry, and Lavender.

When the Fitbit Air becomes available for purchase, it will be priced at £84.99.
