A recent study conducted by TasteAtlas has unveiled the prime culinary destinations worldwide, shifting focus from the usual suspects like Italian pasta, Japanese sushi, and Mexican tacos. The analysis delved into nearly 500,000 ratings from 17,073 cities in its repository. Surprisingly, many of the highly-rated locales are conveniently close to the UK, with a majority of the top 10 positioned in Europe.
Taking the lead is Naples, celebrated for its globally renowned cuisine encompassing pizza, lasagna, and macaroni, as reported by the Express. Italy’s influence is further evident as Milan secures the second spot, boasting specialties like risotto, panettone, and the iconic Campari cocktail with its roots in the city. Bologna, famed for dishes such as spaghetti bolognese, ragu, and tortellini, clinches the third position, solidifying Italy’s gastronomic prowess.
While Italy dominates the rankings, other cities globally recognized for their culinary offerings also shine in the top 10, including Paris, Vienna, and Mumbai. Regrettably, the UK, alongside Hong Kong, Barcelona, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, and Amsterdam, missed out on the top 30 list of foodie destinations.
