JLS member Oritse Williams’ son has been urgently taken to the hospital over suspected meningitis. Oritse and his wife, Kazz, welcomed their son, Shiva, last year and were deeply concerned about his well-being since the pregnancy. The 38-year-old singer recently shared that their son has been in and out of the hospital due to poor health. During the latest hospitalization, medical staff mentioned meningitis and sepsis, causing significant worry for the parents. Due to Shiva’s fragile health, Ortise emphasized the need for constant care, with Kazz experiencing anxiety following the couple’s two previous miscarriages.
Describing Shiva as their “miracle baby,” Ortise expressed their extreme fear whenever he falls ill, stating that they are extra cautious with his health. The singer abruptly left JLS tour rehearsals after learning about Shiva’s viral infection and escalating temperatures, which raised concerns of serious illnesses like meningitis and sepsis.
Ortise explained, “Yesterday he got readmitted into the hospital. He’s caught a viral infection, and the temperatures went to dangerous heights. They started throwing around words that really scared us, like meningitis and sepsis and stuff like that, so I literally cut out of rehearsals for the [JLS] tour.” He added that he immediately left to be with his wife and has been sleepless due to Shiva’s illness.
The NHS highlights that meningitis symptoms can vary, with some symptoms possibly not manifesting at all. These symptoms include a rash, high temperature, cold extremities, vomiting, rapid breathing, muscle and joint pain, a stiff neck, light sensitivity, and extreme drowsiness or difficulty waking up. In infants, symptoms may include feeding refusal, irritability, a high-pitched cry, muscle stiffness, lethargy, or a bulging soft spot on the head.
JLS is set to commence The Club Is Alive: 2025 Hits Tour on November 6 in Glasgow, Scotland, followed by performances in various UK cities. Reflecting on their pregnancy journey last year, Ortise expressed overwhelming gratitude and love for his wife, Kazz, emphasizing her strength and sacrifices throughout the challenging period.
In an interview with OK! Magazine shortly after their son’s birth, Ortise shared his elation and pride over his newborn son, emphasizing the decision to keep the pregnancy news private initially. Kazz recounted her anxiety during pregnancy, mentioning weekly scans for reassurance and dietary adjustments due to gestational diabetes, with Ortise ensuring she maintained a healthy diet.
