Prince Andrew has decided to remove the personalized Duke of York car number plates from his luxury vehicles. The 65-year-old Royal opted not to transfer the registration plates AY02 DOY and AY03 DOY to his new £115,000 Range Rover. According to records from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), these plates are no longer associated with any vehicle.
This decision follows Andrew’s agreement to relinquish his Duke of York title after revelations that he misled about his interactions with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Additionally, allegations from sex abuse accuser Virginia Giuffre in her posthumous memoir have further tainted the prince’s reputation, despite his consistent denial of any wrongdoing.
The Mirror can confirm that the number plate AY02 DOY, previously on his dark green Range Rovers, is no longer active per DVLA records. Andrew sold his Range Rover for £50,000 in November after minimal usage, replacing it with a new Range Rover featuring the plate KN74 EFK instead of his Duke of York plate. Furthermore, the personalized plate AY03 DOY, which adorned his green £220,000 Bentley, is also unaccounted for in DVLA records.
The potential implications of this registration plate issue may extend to other DOY titles adopted by the disgraced prince across his properties. Allegedly, these titles could involve specific instructions to Royal staff regarding the arrangement of his cherished collection of bears and soft toys on his bed to prevent bedtime tantrums.
Last Friday, Andrew voluntarily surrendered his titles and resigned from the Order of the Garter amidst mounting pressure over his association with Epstein. Discussions are underway for Andrew and his ex-wife Fergie to vacate the Windsor mansion. It is reported that they both aim to secure separate residences on the Windsor Estate, with Andrew expressing interest in Frogmore Cottage and Sarah eyeing Adelaide Cottage.
Recent reports suggest that Prince William warned Beatrice and Eugenie of potential title revocation if Andrew does not vacate Royal Lodge. Allegedly, Prince Charles intervened in a meeting with the princesses to urge their father’s relocation. Despite these claims, Prince Andrew’s office has not provided any comments on the matter.
