Must read

Prince Albert authorities reported the discovery of human remains on Thursday in the ongoing search for a missing teenager who vanished in June. The collaborative effort involved the city’s public works and fire departments, as well as the Prince Albert Grand Council Search and Rescue team. The body was found near the 300 block of 40th Street East, according to a police statement.

An autopsy is set for Tuesday to establish the identity of the deceased individual and ascertain the cause and circumstances of death. Speaking to CBC News, Danica Moore, the mother of the missing teenager, Peyton Flett, indicated that the police informed her about their belief that the body belongs to her daughter.

Authorities revealed that the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service, along with the police major crimes and forensic identification units, are jointly conducting an active investigation into the suspicious death. A news conference held on Wednesday featured police, the Prince Albert Grand Council, Shoal Lake Cree Nation, and Flett’s parents appealing to the public for any information that could aid in locating her.

The last known sighting of Flett was reported on June 16 or 17 near Marquis Road and Central Avenue close to the Northern Lights Casino. Law enforcement officers are currently present at the discovery site near 40th Street, focusing their investigation on a wooded area. Traffic restrictions are in place on the street, and authorities are urging people to steer clear of the vicinity. Updates will be provided as additional information becomes accessible.
