SeatGeek Canada has been slapped with two additional fines by the Ontario government for allegedly violating a recent law that limits the reselling of event tickets above face value. According to the province’s consumer alert website, the new fines imposed on the ticket resale platform this month amount to a total of $22,500.
The initial fine of $15,000 was issued for allegedly listing a ticket for sale or facilitating its resale at a price exceeding the permitted limit. The second fine, totaling $7,500, was imposed for purportedly failing to disclose the full ticket price when a purchase was made from an original seller.
Neither the province nor SeatGeek Canada has promptly addressed inquiries regarding the events linked to the fines or whether the company plans to contest the penalties. Earlier in August, the province had already fined the company $25,000 for comparable violations.
