“Topshop Makes Comeback in UK High Streets with John Lewis Collaboration”

Must read

Topshop is reintroducing its presence in UK high streets today through a new collaboration with John Lewis. The renowned fashion brand, which had closed its standalone stores in 2021, will now be featured in all 32 department stores of John Lewis, as well as on the retailer’s website, with Topman available in seven of its locations.

This relaunch includes a curated selection of 130 of Topshop’s most sought-after pieces, highlighting their iconic denim collection. The decision to bring back Topshop was finalized last year after successful pop-up events in various John Lewis stores, as part of John Lewis’ substantial £800 million investment in new brands for the upcoming spring/summer season.

Topshop and Topman had previously disappeared from UK high streets following the administration of their former owner, Arcadia, in 2021. The brand was subsequently acquired by ASOS, which initially sold Topshop products online. Topshop made a comeback to London’s Oxford Street last year through a launch at department store Liberty.

Michelle Wilson, Topshop’s managing director, emphasized the convenience for customers to access their favorite Topshop and Topman items, from classic denim pieces to the latest footwear, available for immediate purchase. The partnership with John Lewis aims to deliver the high level of service expected by customers, bringing the brands back to high streets across the UK.

This reintroduction aligns with London Fashion Week and will be followed by a significant presence at Piccadilly Circus in London, along with activations in other locations throughout the UK. The launch coincides with John Lewis’ efforts to enhance its growth trajectory as part of a comprehensive transformation plan led by CEO Peter Ruis.

Ruis highlighted that John Lewis, part of the John Lewis Partnership along with Waitrose, is enhancing its fashion offerings to support its strategic objectives. He expressed that the inclusion of Topshop in their portfolio signifies a significant step in their fashion ambitions, positioning John Lewis as a leading style authority on the British high street.

In addition to Topshop’s return, John Lewis is introducing 14 new labels in fashion, jewelry, and accessories for the upcoming season, further underlining the retailer’s commitment to offer a diverse and compelling range of brands to its customers.
