UK households utilizing Freeview for television programming are advised to conduct a quick retune of their equipment due to recent channel adjustments. While not a major overhaul, performing a swift reboot will ensure that TVs are fully updated with the latest changes in the TV guide.
Freeview has confirmed that on May 20, 2026, several channels will undergo modifications. Users are encouraged to retune their devices to keep their TV guide and channels up to date.
Among the changes, two channels have been renamed. Hobbycraft TV on channel 97 is now known as Shop Unlimited, and Great! Romance Mix on channel 61 has been rebranded as Great! TV +1.
Furthermore, there are adjustments to channel numbers. Great! Movies will transition from channel 61 to channel 62, with Great! TV +1 taking over the slot on channel 61.
Freeview stated, “Channel lineup changes are a regular occurrence on Freeview as individual providers make decisions to relocate, add, or remove channels.
“Freeview continues to ensure viewers have access to diverse and engaging content offerings.”
If the updates are not reflected on your TV, manual retuning of your device may be required.
To retune your TV:
• Press the menu button on your TV or set-top box remote
• Select “set-up”, “installation”, “update” or a similar option
• If prompted for a password, try “1234” or “0000”
• Choose “first-time installation”, “factory reset”, “full retune” or “default settings”
• Press “OK” to confirm deletion of existing channels if asked
• The retune process should then start automatically
• Save any channels found during the scan if prompted
