“Pixel Phones Plagued by Rapid Battery Drain Bug”

Must read

Some Android users are facing a concerning issue where their phone batteries are depleting rapidly even when the devices are not actively in use. This problem seems to have emerged following a recent software update rollout. Numerous Android users have taken to online forums to express their frustrations, with one individual mentioning the need to charge their phone multiple times a day just to maintain battery life.

The battery drain bug seems to primarily impact Google’s Pixel phone lineup, with the tech company acknowledging the issue and working on a fix.

Affected devices include models such as the Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel 7A.

According to 9to5Google, the problem appears to be associated with excessive CPU wakeups, causing the phone to continuously consume power in the background even when not in active use.

Users have voiced their frustrations, with one named Phil noting, “Both my Pixel 7A and my wife’s have been experiencing this issue since mid-March. The phones rapidly lose charge, take longer to recharge, and exhibit battery drain even when turned off.”

Another Pixel owner, Fz, shared, “After the March update, my Pixel 9 Pro XL started draining its battery excessively. Now I have to charge my phone three times a day post-update. The battery depletes overnight even when the phone is not in use, which is highly frustrating.”

However, not all Pixel users are experiencing these battery issues, as confirmed by a user named Warren who stated, “No battery drain observed on my Pixel 9 Pro. It was fully charged at 6:30 am and remains at 79% at 3:20 pm.”

Google is expected to address this issue promptly and release an update to resolve the battery drain problem. Updates on this matter will be provided as soon as new information becomes available.
