“New El-Alamein City: Egypt’s £160M Riviera Gem”

Must read

A cutting-edge city project worth £160 million is taking shape on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast to rival popular European holiday destinations like Spain, Italy, and Greece.

New El-Alamein City, the official name of this ambitious venture, is being hailed as the fresh face of the Egyptian Riviera, offering pristine white sandy beaches, clear waters, and an average November temperature of approximately 24°C for year-round enjoyment.

Set in the Marsa Matruh governorate, about 60 kilometers along the Alexandria–Matrouh international highway, the city spans nearly 49,000 feddans (around 200 million square meters) with a vision to become a hub for international tourism and contemporary urban living.

With expectations to accommodate up to three million residents upon completion, New El-Alamein is set to become one of the most advanced cities in the Middle East. The initial phase of the project is already in progress, focusing on housing arrangements for around 400,000 individuals. The city will feature a comprehensive layout integrating residential, cultural, tourist, industrial, and research sectors.

The development plan includes the construction of international hotels, high-end resorts, a private university, and designated structures for the President and Cabinet. Infrastructure enhancements such as water treatment facilities, sewage systems, and intelligent electricity grids are being jointly implemented by Egypt’s Urban Communities Authority and the Armed Forces Engineering Authority.

New El-Alamein City will be divided into distinct zones catering to tourism, history, and residential purposes, offering diverse accommodations ranging from luxurious resorts to modern apartments. The waterfront will feature an expansive international promenade hosting various dining, shopping, and entertainment options.

Central to the city will be the City of Culture and Arts complex, housing a Roman-style theater, opera house, cinema, and production studios, positioning New El-Alamein as a cultural hub and tourist attraction. The project aims to alleviate population density in Cairo by providing a sustainable urban alternative supported by intelligent transport systems and renewable energy sources.

Over 30 developers have already secured permits to construct more than 30,000 hotel rooms as part of the ongoing initial phase. Officials view New El-Alamein as a transformative project for the Mediterranean region, aiming to redefine Egypt’s northern coastline by offering a blend of sunshine, luxury, and modern lifestyle within a few hours’ reach from the UK.
