Argos Introduces Manhattan S4-R: Free TV with 100+ Channels

Must read

Argos is offering a popular alternative to Sky Q-style upgrades with the introduction of the Manhattan S4-R set-top box. Unlike Sky Q, which requires a monthly fee, the Manhattan S4-R provides access to over 100 channels without any additional costs after purchase. This device works with Freesat, utilizing an existing satellite dish to deliver free TV channels like BBC, ITV1, Channel 4, E4, and more.

The Manhattan S4-R features a user-friendly interface, built-in search capabilities, and access to a vast library of on-demand entertainment, with support for apps such as BBC iPlayer and ITVX. While it may not offer premium sports and movie packages like Sky Q, Freesat provides a completely free viewing experience.

Priced at £219.99, the Manhattan S4-R 500GB model is now available at retailers like Argos and Amazon, with larger 1TB and 2TB versions set to launch soon. Manhattan’s COO, Alex Arbab-Zadeh, highlighted the device’s enhanced recording capabilities, allowing up to four simultaneous recordings compared to the previous two-channel limit. The S4-R is positioned as an affordable and flexible alternative to subscription TV services.

In a similar move, the Pleio puck has entered the market, offering streaming access to TVs without the need for an aerial. Priced at £99.99, the Pleio puck includes a gaming controller and access to over 200 online games. Sky has also announced a 20 percent price reduction for its Sky Glass Air TV ahead of the World Cup, with prices starting from £4.50 per month. Customers opting for the upgraded Sky Glass Gen 2 model can expect features like a 4K Quantum Dot display and built-in Dolby Atmos soundbar for a starting price of £11 per month.
