Some of Taylor Swift’s music has been taken down from social media videos shared by the U.S. President Donald Trump’s campaign and the White House. These videos had included two of Swift’s songs in the past week. Neither the White House nor Swift’s representative has responded to requests for comments.
Swift has not recently addressed Trump directly; however, she endorsed his Democratic opponent, former Vice President Kamala Harris, in 2024. During the 2020 election campaign, Swift made it clear on social media that she did not support Trump as president.
Trump has publicly criticized Swift, expressing his dislike for her after she endorsed Harris. Other artists, such as Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande, have also requested that the Trump administration refrain from using their music.
The Trump campaign featured two of Swift’s songs on its TikTok page in the past week. One video referenced Swift’s famous songs, like “Red (Donald Trump’s Version).” Another video posted in June showcased Swift’s new song from “Toy Story 5” with a caption praising Trump’s love for the country and its people.
This is not the first time the Trump administration has used Swift’s music in their videos. In a video posted in April, Swift’s “High Infidelity” was featured, along with lyrics from her song asking, “Do you really want to know where I was April 29th?” Another video in November included Swift’s song “The Fate of Ophelia” from her album “The Life of a Showgirl.”
These videos have sparked reactions on social media, with a White House spokesperson acknowledging that they were created to attract attention from news outlets. The Trump administration’s communication team frequently uses popular songs in their videos to highlight various events, including immigration policies, military actions, and the arrest of political figures.
