Hot on the heels of the recent electric Oasis UK tour, another iconic figure from the Britpop era is gearing up for a tour of his own. Fans were captivated by the Gallagher brothers’ performance, and enthusiasts of that music era are eagerly anticipating the latest tour announcement.
Following a grand world premiere at this summer’s Big Feastival in front of a massive crowd of over 20,000 fans, Blur’s Alex James is all set to launch his Britpop Classical tour in the UK next March. The tour will showcase hits from the Britpop era in collaboration with a live orchestra.
The tour will cover various cities in the UK, including the prestigious Royal Albert Hall, before moving on to locations like Manchester, Brighton, Newcastle, and Glasgow. Curated and performed by Alex James, the show will bring to life the best songs from the golden era of British music.
Timeless tracks from bands like Blur, Oasis, Pulp, Supergrass, and The Verve will receive special renditions with the support of a live band, guest vocalists, the London Concert Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.
Joining James on stage will be renowned artists such as Phil Daniels, Saffron from Republica, and Gary Stringer from Reef, with additional guest performers to be revealed soon.
Reflecting on the upcoming tour, James expressed, “These songs hold a special place in people’s hearts now more than ever. They resonate with my children’s generation as well. Reinterpreting them with a symphony orchestra, a dynamic band, old friends, and special guests created an electrifying atmosphere at the Feastival, and I am thrilled to take this show on tour.”
Owen Kent, Director of Events at RG Live, who is involved in the production, commented, “The energy at Big Feastival was extraordinary – the enthusiastic response from the audience clearly indicated that we have something remarkable in our hands. Britpop Classical breathes new life into beloved songs, delivering a powerful and exhilarating experience. Launching the tour at the Royal Albert Hall sets the stage for what we believe will be a standout show of 2026.”
This tour follows the immense success of acts like Oasis this summer, who were recently joined by Richard Ashcroft. The Gallagher brothers are now also eyeing potential success at the Oscars with a movie adaptation of their reunion.
A documentary capturing their reunion tour is in the works, featuring exclusive behind-the-scenes footage. Magna Studios is producing the film, expected to include the emotional moment when Noel and Liam reunited for the first time.
Reports suggest that the famous siblings are hopeful of clinching the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature Film and a similar accolade at the Baftas.
