A British man, aged 68, was fatally shot during a robbery in southern Ghana, as confirmed by local law enforcement. The tragic incident occurred on Friday at a gathering spot near the Community Nine cemetery in Tema, located approximately 15 miles east of Ghana’s capital city, Accra. Despite being rushed to Tema General Hospital, the victim succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
According to reports from Modern Ghana, the man was in the company of a group when six young individuals on motorbikes approached them. One of the assailants seized the man’s phone, leading to a confrontation where one of the suspects shot the victim before fleeing on their motorcycles. The Tema Regional Police Command has initiated a comprehensive operation to apprehend the culprits.
Authorities recovered a spent 9mm shell at the crime scene, which is being examined as evidence. Witnesses have been interviewed, and steps are being taken to notify the British High Commission about the British national’s tragic demise.
In response to the incident, a spokesperson from The Mirror quoted a statement from the Foreign Office, saying, “We are providing assistance to the family of the deceased individual in Ghana.”
