Convicted Madeleine McCann Suspect Seeks Funds to Flee

Must read

A fundraising page allegedly created by Christian Brueckner, the main suspect in the Madeleine McCann case, has emerged, seeking donations to help him leave Germany. Brueckner, a convicted rapist, initiated the fundraiser after being released from prison where he served time for assaulting a 72-year-old woman in Portugal. His intention to set up the fundraiser was disclosed to a friend beforehand, stating that assistance from others could facilitate his departure if they wished it.

Brueckner, aged 48, is now requesting €26,000 (£22,860) through a popular fundraising platform to finance his exit from Germany. In his message directed at the country’s taxpayers, he expressed a desire to legally depart the country to escape constant suspicion, preconceptions, and a relentless pursuit, seeking solace elsewhere with the only obstacle being the lack of funds.

He specified that a mere 10 Euros could cover his airport coffee expenses, while 50 Euros could secure a one-way ticket to a jurisdiction beyond the reach of Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office. Brueckner emphasized that his departure would bring tranquility to Germany, allow the media a summer respite, and enable donors to feel they contributed positively to the greater good, emphasizing the humanitarian aspect of the request.

Following his release, Brueckner had been receiving unemployment benefits while seeking employment in Germany. Initially placed in a quiet suburb in northern Germany, he faced public condemnation from locals upon arrival at his new residence. Subsequently, a petition was launched by residents to relocate him, leading to an emergency town hall meeting. Amidst escalating tensions, law enforcement officials considered moving Brueckner to southern Germany to evade public scrutiny in a larger urban setting.

Despite briefly garnering €100 in donations, the fundraising campaign was promptly removed from the GoFundMe platform for breaching terms of service. A GoFundMe representative confirmed the removal, stating that refunds were issued to donors in compliance with platform policies.
