In southern Manitoba, authorities are treating the death of a four-year-old girl and the severe injuries sustained by two toddlers at a residence as suspicious incidents, according to RCMP. The Manitoba First Nations Police Service responded to a call at a home in Long Plain First Nation after emergency personnel reported a young child in medical distress with injuries on Sunday morning. Sadly, the four-year-old was declared deceased at the scene. Two other children, aged one and two, were also in the residence and were transported to the hospital. One child was initially in critical condition, while the other was stable; both are now reported to be in stable condition. Given the circumstances, RCMP has taken charge of the investigation. Supt. Rob Lasson, who oversees Manitoba RCMP major crime services, described the situation as deeply concerning and emphasized the community’s need for clarity regarding the events that transpired in the household. Lasson assured residents of Long Plain that law enforcement is collaborating closely with the Manitoba First Nations Police Service and community leaders on this matter.
