Emmerdale actor James Moore revealed that he experienced emotional moments during a challenging climb to honor his late father who passed away from blood cancer earlier this year. James, 33, took on the task alongside a group comprising friends, family, and a fellow soap star to raise funds for Myeloma UK.
His father, Stephen, succumbed to multiple myeloma at the age of 69, a form of blood cancer that impacts bones and various body areas, with no typical cure. Renowned for his role as Ryan Stocks in the soap, James scaled 1,345 meters in a single day at 270 Climbing Park near Cheltenham. Reflecting on his motivation for the climb, James expressed a desire to raise awareness about the disease and commemorate his father’s upcoming 70th birthday.
Despite facing challenges such as a power outage at the climbing center, James and his team, which included his Emmerdale co-star Ash Palmisciano, accomplished 100 climbs within three and a half hours. James, dealing with a hip injury, persisted and completed the final climb amidst tears and profound emotions.
Recalling his close bond with his father, James praised Stephen for his unwavering support throughout his life, especially in pursuing his passions despite his ataxic cerebral palsy. As James and his wife Sophie prepare to mark their first wedding anniversary, they reminisce about their wedding day and plan for the future, including buying a house and starting a family.
