Must read

Five individuals from neighboring communities are facing charges for their involvement in a reckless driving incident that occurred during a significant vehicle meetup in the southern part of London, Ontario earlier this year.

The London Police Service (LPS) received reports of dangerous driving behavior at a commercial parking lot on Roxburgh Road around 9 p.m. ET on May 9. Following this, the LPS road safety unit conducted an investigation, analyzing surveillance footage linked to the event.

Authorities emphasized that public roads and parking areas are not suitable venues for dangerous driving activities like stunts or racing. They stressed the importance of drivers operating vehicles safely, adhering to traffic regulations, and prioritizing the safety of all individuals nearby, including passengers, pedestrians, and other motorists.

After the probe, it was determined that five men from Fort Erie, Milverton, Walkteron, and West Lorne had committed a total of 74 offenses under the Highway Traffic Act and related to vehicle operations. Moreover, five vehicles were impounded and removed from the scene.

The charges encompassed offenses such as stunt driving, improper vehicle operation, and violations related to vehicle equipment. The public was urged to report any instances of dangerous driving or suspicious vehicle activities, provided it can be done safely. Those with information regarding the incident were encouraged to reach out to the LPS or Crime Stoppers.
