A senior advisor to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has noted a perceived weakness in the American military since the U.S. and Israel initiated an attack on Iran earlier this year. Talks to resolve the conflict have hit a standstill.
In a rare interview with Western media, Brig.-Gen. Mohammad Reza Naqdi stated that Iran has not yet achieved its ultimate goal in the war. Naqdi, who serves as the supreme advisor to the IRGC’s commander-in-chief, expressed confidence in Iran’s current and future success.
An interim agreement between the U.S. and Iran to halt hostilities was reached in mid-June but is nearing expiration. Naqdi’s remarks follow a period of escalated tensions and military actions between the two nations.
Naqdi highlighted that the ongoing war has provided Iran with valuable experience in combatting the U.S., emphasizing that the American military has shown vulnerabilities not previously perceived. This sentiment was echoed by U.S. President Donald Trump who reassured that the U.S. maintains control over the Strait of Hormuz.
Efforts to reignite peace negotiations between Iran and the U.S. continue, with Pakistan playing a mediating role. Despite challenges related to the strategic Strait of Hormuz, discussions persist, with the potential for extending deadlines to reach a comprehensive agreement.
