“Louvre Heist: Thieves Swipe €88M Jewels in 7-Minute Robbery”

Must read

The recent Louvre heist continues to circulate on social media, leaving many astonished at the audacity of the crime. This cinematic robbery saw French thieves snatch eight crown jewels valued at €88 million (£77 million) in a mere seven minutes.

Surprisingly, reports indicate that the theft was made possible by breaching the Louvre’s security system, which one would assume to be highly secure. Shockingly, it is alleged that the world-renowned museum safeguarded its security systems with the password ‘LOUVRE’, as revealed by French publication Libération.

In 2014, the French National Cybersecurity Agency (ANSSI) discovered this weak password during a security assessment at the Louvre and advised implementing a more complex security measure.

Amidst online jests, netizens mockingly highlighted the inadequacy of using ‘LOUVRE’ as the password for accessing the museum’s video surveillance system. The arrested suspects, including a minor social media influencer who worked as a security guard at the Pompidou Centre, are facing charges related to the organized theft of the crown jewels.

Notably, Abdoulaye N, a 39-year-old individual identified by justice officials, was apprehended in connection with the heist. He is accused of organized theft and criminal conspiracy. Three other suspects are also in custody, believed to be part of the gang that orchestrated the heist using a stolen truck and sophisticated equipment to access the museum.
