Mounjaro Weight Loss Injections Alleviate Menopausal Symptoms

Must read

A mother who shed 4st using Mounjaro discovered an unexpected benefit that has been largely overlooked. She suggested that the injections might be aiding with a common issue that many women worldwide simply endure as a part of daily life.

Tammy Kirkwood began her Mounjaro journey in October 2024 due to lifelong struggles with weight loss, starting at 17st 13lbs and a size 22. Over the course of a year, the 54-year-old has slimmed down to 13st 2lbs and a size 16. However, Tammy also experienced a surprising positive effect unrelated to her weight loss.

She shared that since starting the jabs, which are primarily used to regulate blood sugar levels in diabetes patients with the added benefit of weight loss, her menopausal symptoms of hot flushes and brain fog significantly improved within three months.

Previously, she dealt with embarrassing daily hot flushes that felt like internal burning. But after three months on Mounjaro, her hot flushes, sleep disruptions, itchy skin, and brain fog diminished and became infrequent.

Approximately 13 million women in the UK are currently perimenopausal or menopausal, according to NHS data. While menopause is a natural part of aging for women, this mother of four credits her symptom relief to the jabs.

Tammy, a student apprentice nurse from Ripon, North Yorkshire, remarked, “I have struggled with weight loss my whole life, through pregnancies and depression. Despite being active and running marathons, I fell into depression when advised to change my routine. This led to emotional eating and weight gain.”

She noted, “Within three months, I noticed a decrease in hot flushes and improved sleep quality. The embarrassing moments of hot flushes and interrupted sleep disappeared. Mounjaro played a key role in calming these symptoms. I came across stories on TikTok discussing menopause symptoms being alleviated by Mounjaro, and I realized I hadn’t experienced hot flushes for months. This medication offers valuable insights and benefits.”

Following leg surgery that halted her exercise routine, the grandmother-of-four turned to weight loss injections to combat emotional eating and found herself spending £99 monthly on a lower dose of Wegovy due to Mounjaro price increases. Additionally, she invested £400 in a nutritionist for 12 weeks and resumed CrossFit training.

She mentioned, “Many assume those on Mounjaro constantly eat without taking action. When I was younger, I was reserved, but weight gain made me withdraw further. Now, a new version of myself has emerged. I have colorful hair and no longer hide. The menopause symptoms like dry skin, hot flashes, and brain fog have diminished.”

By focusing on portion control and emotional eating, Tammy managed her weight loss journey. She said, “Previously, I would seek comfort in sugary snacks after a bad day at work. My husband, a supporter, would indulge my emotional eating habits. Now, I have better control over food cravings, even when feeling low.”

After transforming from a size 22 to a size 16 within a year, Tammy embraced her newfound style, exploring new clothing, makeup, and hairstyles. She recently participated in her second CrossFit competition on September 29, aspiring to inspire other women by proving that at 54, with menopause and weight concerns, positive changes are possible with the right medication.
