Nova Scotian Giant Living NFL Dream

Must read

Logan Taylor, a Nova Scotian native, had already hit six feet in height before his 10th birthday, standing out on the soccer field due to his size. Transitioning to football later on, Taylor embraced the team dynamics and physicality of the sport. Fast forward to today, the 24-year-old offensive lineman, standing at six-foot-seven and weighing 312 pounds, is fulfilling his NFL dream with the Los Angeles Chargers. Selected in the sixth round of the NFL Draft, Taylor holds the distinction of being the highest-picked Nova Scotian in the draft.

Having left his hometown in Lunenburg at the age of 14 to pursue his football aspirations, Taylor’s journey included stints in Timberlea, N.S., Virginia, and Massachusetts. Despite Nova Scotia’s hockey legacy, Taylor aims to join the ranks of NFL players from the region, such as Tyrone Williams and Steve Morley. Moving to Timberlea to attend high school due to the lack of a football program in Bridgewater, Taylor found support in his billet parents, Kathy and Brian Mason, who encouraged him to chase his NFL dreams.

Described as a gentle giant, Taylor’s humility and respectfulness have endeared him to those around him. Embracing challenges since a young age, Taylor credits the Masons as pivotal figures in his life, alongside his biological parents. With a collegiate and NFL journey marked by perseverance and hard work, Taylor’s NFL Draft selection was a moment of immense pride shared with his loved ones.

Speaking from the Chargers’ practice facility, Taylor highlighted his rigorous daily schedule and the competitive environment of NFL practice sessions. While relishing his time in Los Angeles, Taylor misses his rural pursuits but remains focused on his NFL ambitions. With four offensive linemen selected in the draft, Taylor faces a tough road to secure a spot on the active roster, a challenge he welcomes with determination.

As a role model for aspiring football players in Nova Scotia, Taylor emphasizes the importance of consistency and resilience in pursuing professional sports. Encouraging dedication and a strong work ethic, Taylor’s advice reflects his own journey to NFL success.
