Patrice Evra has declared that he will not be making a comeback to Juventus as a coach or director following the dismissal of Igor Tudor. The former Manchester United player criticized the current squad in Turin, urging them to shoulder responsibility.
Having spent three years at Juventus after leaving Old Trafford, Evra played 82 games for the Italian team before retiring in 2019. He took a year off before deciding not to rush back into the football scene.
Luciano Spalletti is expected to take over as the new head coach of Juventus, having been sacked by Italy a while back. Juventus is currently positioned eighth in Serie A with 12 points from eight games.
Evra admitted that he is not ready to return to the intense football environment, drawing parallels between Juventus and his experience with David Moyes’ dismissal at Manchester United. He emphasized that without the manager, players must step up, though he doubts the current Juventus players will rise to the occasion.
In a statement on Instagram, Evra clarified that he is enjoying his current lifestyle too much to make a football comeback. He praised Tudor and urged the Juventus players to take accountability for their on-field performance.
The ex-footballer highlighted the changing landscape of the sport, noting that today’s players face more distractions than previous generations. He emphasized the need for players to prioritize their commitment to the team over personal pursuits.
While Evra acknowledged a potential return to football in the future, he stressed that currently, he is content with his life outside the sport. He underscored the importance of dedication and unity within the team to achieve success.
