A horse named Frosty was rescued from a frozen creek in Lehman Creek in Saskatchewan, on the brink of death. Local communities and horse enthusiasts rallied together to help him recover. Frosty was found partially submerged in the creek by a resident near Cochin, Sask., and was rescued by the village’s mayor, Mark Pattinson, and his friend Ed Scott. Despite a close call where euthanasia was considered, Frosty miraculously stood up and started walking to safety.
After his owner passed away, Frosty needed a new caretaker. Leslie-Ann Smith, a local farmer, stepped in to help, despite the horse’s poor condition. Frosty was taken to a veterinarian for treatment, where it was discovered he had a hernia and other injuries from his ordeal. Thanks to the generosity of people across the country, funds were raised to cover his medical expenses.
Following weeks of treatment and therapy, Frosty showed great improvement. He now resides at the Smith farm, where he has blossomed into a gentle and affectionate horse. Frosty has even made public appearances, including at the Tony Cote Summer Games, showcasing his remarkable recovery. Smith emphasized the importance of unity and perseverance in saving Frosty’s life, crediting the support from various communities.
