“Russian Defense Plant Helicopter Crash Kills Four”

Must read

A helicopter transporting Russian defense plant officials crashed into a private residence today, resulting in the deaths of four individuals onboard due to burns. Three survivors were rescued from the Ka-226 helicopter and taken to a hospital in Russia, with one reported to be in critical condition. The helicopter was carrying high-ranking personnel from Kizlyar Electromechanical Plant, which produces ground control systems for Sukhoi and MiG aircraft, and is under sanctions related to the conflict in Ukraine.

The cause of the crash, labeled a “catastrophe” by the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency, is still unknown. The incident occurred in the village of Achi-Su in Dagestan, where witnesses observed the helicopter circling in flames before crashing onto a house uncontrollably.

Fortunately, there were no casualties reported on the ground as the aircraft plummeted and exploded near the Zhemchuzhina recreation center, near the Caspian Sea. Initially mistaken for a tourist helicopter, it was later clarified that defense plant personnel were onboard. Investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.

The Ka-226 helicopter is commonly used by the Russian military, national guard, and defense industry. The flight was en route from Kizlyar to Izberbash on the Caspian Sea when the crash occurred. Rescue teams are working to clear the debris to determine the cause, with a technical malfunction being considered a possible reason by news agency TASS.

Security camera footage captured the alarming moment of the crash and subsequent fire. An individual was seen running from the scene, presumably seeking assistance. According to one witness, the helicopter grazed a pier with its tail before attempting to land, only to rise again and crash near a beachside house.

Describing the event, a witness mentioned, “The helicopter was flying near the shore and tried to land on the pier but hit it with its tail. Subsequently, it ascended and began to spin. Upon its descent, I heard a loud noise and an explosion in the distance.”
