Users of various devices, notably Samsung models, are facing screen flickering issues while using the Gmail app. Some individuals have reported complete disappearance of text or viewing only empty white boxes instead of email content. Frustrated users have turned to social media platforms to express their grievances, with one individual mentioning the problem persisting for four days on their Samsung Fold device.
Similar complaints have surfaced on Google’s support forums, with one user detailing efforts to resolve the problem to no avail. Google product expert Kimiya Kitani has attributed the glitch to Android System WebView, a critical component enabling apps to display web content within the application interface. Kitani highlighted intermittent problems with Android System WebView on certain devices, including Samsung tablets, and confirmed that Google is actively addressing the issue.
Although the exact number of impacted users remains uncertain, reports indicate that Samsung foldable devices like the Galaxy Z Fold series and specific Galaxy tablets are among the most affected. As a temporary workaround, Kitani suggests rotating the device to alleviate the flickering. By opening emails in portrait mode, rotating to landscape mode until the display stabilizes, and then returning to portrait mode, users may mitigate the problem.
While awaiting a permanent solution from Google, rotating the device as described offers a simple fix for affected users.
