Renowned actor Sean Bean has shared how a tattoo dedicated to his favorite football team, Sheffield United, played a significant role in his career breakthrough. The BAFTA award-winning actor, aged 66, revealed that the tattoo, reading “100% Blade” on his shoulder, caught the attention of director Philip Noyce, leading to his casting as a villain alongside Harrison Ford in Patriot Games.
Reflecting on the tattoo, Sean humorously remarked that it no longer resembles its former glory but now looks like a bird dropping after a fruit binge. Despite this, the tattoo played a crucial part in his early success in Hollywood.
Sean, who hails from Handsworth, Sheffield, has achieved immense success in both film and television, with notable roles in Game of Thrones, The Lord of the Rings, and National Treasure. He credited his casting in Patriot Games as a turning point in his career, acknowledging the challenges he faced with auditions and memorizing lines in the past.
Recently, Sean made a rare public appearance with his fifth wife, Ashley Moore, at the premiere of his new TV series, Robin Hood. In the series, set to premiere on November 2 on MGM+, Sean will portray the Sheriff of Nottingham. The couple looked elegant at the Hollywood event, with Sean sporting a camel suit and Ashley in a chic black trouser suit.
Their love story has been enduring, marking Sean’s fifth marriage and longest to date. Despite his initial reluctance to marry again, Sean found love with Ashley, a former actress he met by chance in a London pub.
As they mingled with co-stars at the premiere, including Jack Patten and Lauren McQueen, who play Robin Hood and Maid Marian, respectively, Sean and Ashley radiated happiness and affection. Their relationship stands as a testament to love and fate, defying Sean’s initial reservations about marriage.
