Must read

Canadian actor Simu Liu, known for his role in Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” has recently gotten married to music industry executive Allison Hsu. The wedding took place over the weekend, as confirmed by Liu’s publicist to CBC News on Tuesday. Reports about the celebrations in France were first brought to light by TMZ.

Liu and Hsu publicly announced their engagement in May 2025 during a trip to Paris, and have since shared images from various wedding-related events in Mexico and a summer visit to Paris. The couple has been transparent about their relationship on social media, with Liu discussing their bond in interviews, expressing feelings of support and love towards each other.

Originally from China and raised in Toronto, Liu is best known for his portrayal of Shang-Chi in the Marvel Universe. His rise to international fame stemmed from this role, following his success in the CBC comedy “Kim’s Convenience.” Liu is set to reprise his role as Shang-Chi in the upcoming film “Avengers: Doomsday.”

In a bid to diversify his acting portfolio, Liu has taken on various projects in recent years, including a role in the blockbuster “Barbie” movie, voice acting in animated films like “In Your Dreams,” and starring in the spy thriller series “The Copenhagen Test.” He also made his Broadway debut in the Tony-winning comedy “Oh, Mary!” earlier this year, showcasing his roots in theatre.

Liu has been vocal about the need for increased Asian representation in leading roles in Hollywood, criticizing the industry’s conservative mindset and reluctance to embrace new talent. His endeavors in film, television, and theater reflect his commitment to expanding his craft and advocating for greater diversity in the entertainment industry.
