“Vancouver’s Alex Lamontagne leads Rise to victory over Ottawa Rapid”

In her first game with Vancouver, Alex Lamontagne scored two goals as the Rise defeated the top-ranked Ottawa Rapid 5-1 in a Northern Super League match on Saturday. The Rise netted four goals in the second half, with Anna Bout, Maithe Lopez, and Camila Reyes also finding the back of the net, the latter from a penalty shot. Elise Bell scored a consolation goal for the Rapid in the 82nd minute.

Following the win, the Rise climbed to fourth place in the league standings, edging past the Halifax Tide by one point. The team now has seven wins, one draw, and nine losses, totaling 22 points. Ottawa Rapid remains in first place with 33 points, maintaining a three-point lead over the Montreal Roses, with a record of 10 wins, four losses, and three draws.

The Rise had the upper hand in possession (53% to 47%) and outshot the Rapid 17-8, with 11 shots on target compared to the hosts’ three. Vancouver also secured four of the seven corners in the game, while both teams received two yellow cards.

In their upcoming fixtures, the Rise will host the Calgary Wild on Saturday, August 29, while the Rapid will visit AFC Toronto on Sunday, August 30.
