“Tesco Clubcard Tops UK Loyalty Program Rankings”

The latest ranking of the UK’s most preferred loyalty programs has been unveiled, with Tesco Clubcard emerging as the top choice. A recent survey involving 2,200 participants was conducted as part of the Retail Loyalty Index to evaluate loyalty schemes at 51 prominent UK retailers. Respondents were quizzed on their satisfaction levels, likelihood of recommending the program, the personalization of rewards, and the security of their personal data handled by the retailers.

Based on the survey results, each retailer received a score out of ten to determine their ranking. Tesco Clubcard claimed the top position with an impressive overall score of 8.38. Shoppers commended the program for being “very generous” with ample redemption options, making shopping more affordable and convenient for them.

Tesco excelled in the “continue to shop” category with a score of 9.16, indicating that customers integrate Clubcard into their regular shopping routines. Members earn one point for every pound spent in-store or online, and for every 100 points accumulated, they receive £1 for in-store purchases or £2 for partner services like Disney+, restaurants, outings, and travel.

Following closely behind in the rankings, Leon Club secured the second spot with an overall score of 8.20, garnering high ratings for satisfaction and recommendations. Members of the Leon Club app earn 100 points for every pound spent and receive a complimentary menu item upon reaching 3,000 points.

Users praised the Leon loyalty scheme for its user-friendliness and attractive perks, noting that it offers quicker and more cost-effective reward accumulation compared to other programs. Despite undergoing store estate reorganization post-administration, Leon’s loyalty initiative continues to thrive.

Consumer expert Harry Wallop emphasized the significance of loyalty schemes that go beyond mere discounts, enticing customers with added value that motivates them to engage with the brand. The study underscores the importance of using data to tailor rewards to customers’ preferences, fostering a sense of appreciation and making the saving process effortless.

Thomas Hill, Chief Commercial Officer at HyperFinity, highlighted the impact of personalized rewards and emotional connections in successful loyalty programs, aiming to aid UK retailers in enhancing their loyalty offerings by aligning with consumer expectations.

Huh Kimber, Senior Vice President and General Manager EMEA & APAC at Bloomreach, emphasized the pivotal role of creating meaningful and interconnected experiences across various touchpoints to drive lasting loyalty. Personalization has evolved from a luxury to a necessity, forming the cornerstone of sustainable loyalty strategies.

Tim Mason, CEO at Eagle Eye, emphasized the importance of relevant and easily accessible rewards in loyalty schemes, as identified by shoppers. The Retail Loyalty Index identifies programs that deliver tangible value and enhance the overall shopping experience, setting higher standards for loyalty performance in UK retail.
