A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday morning in Port Glasgow, Inverclyde, Scotland, where a woman named Amy Gray and her dog Reggie lost their lives after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the A8 Greenock Road. The 42-year-old woman and her pet were fatally hit by a Land Rover Sport on the eastbound carriageway of the road. Despite the swift response of emergency services at around 7.05am, both Ms. Gray and her beloved dog succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
The driver of the Land Rover involved in the accident was unharmed. Following the incident, Greenock Road was closed for approximately five hours to facilitate investigative procedures. The authorities have informed Ms. Gray’s family about the tragic event, and a formal report will be presented to the Procurator Fiscal.
Sergeant Patrick McWilliams from Police Scotland Road Policing expressed the department’s support for Ms. Gray’s family during this challenging period. He urged any witnesses to the collision or individuals with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward and assist the police in their investigation.
