USS Abraham Lincoln Crew Enjoys Thailand Visit

Must read

Buses transporting sailors from the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier arrived in Pattaya, Thailand, following an extended mission in the Middle East. The carrier, involved in operations against Iran, set a new record with over 260 days at sea, raising concerns about crew mental health and food shortages. Despite reports of challenges, the U.S. Navy downplayed issues, with President Trump remarking that the deployment was insufficient.

The USS Lincoln has been at sea for a total of 286 days, with 264 consecutive days before reaching Chonburi province. Following its visit to Thailand, the ship is scheduled to depart this weekend for its journey back to the United States.

Upon arrival in Thailand, crew members expressed excitement about their visit. The designated pickup point at the Hard Rock Hotel in Pattaya saw vendors and travel agents offering various services to the sailors, who were busy with luggage and waiting for transportation.

Aside from the Lincoln, two other ships from its strike group are stationed in different parts of Thailand. Local vendors, like A-ngoon Sombat, traveled significant distances to sell their products to the visiting crew, hoping for good business during the stay.

As service members explored Pattaya, shopping and enjoying the local attractions, morale was reported to be high. Despite the challenges faced during the deployment, sailors were looking forward to returning home. The ship’s commanding officer mentioned the possibility of further stops for supplies but did not disclose the exact return date to the U.S.
