A passenger on a train in Huntingdon recounted a harrowing experience where a man wielding a knife made threatening remarks before being apprehended by police. Stephen Crean, a London resident, bravely confronted the assailant who had boarded the train at Grantham following a football match between Nottingham Forest and Manchester United. Chaos ensued as passengers alerted others about the presence of a knife-wielding individual on board.
The situation escalated as passengers sought refuge near the buffet bar while the assailant brandished his knife at Stephen, repeatedly asking if he wanted to die. The incident resulted in eleven passengers sustaining injuries during the journey from Doncaster to London King’s Cross, prompting an emergency stop in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. Among the injured, four individuals were discharged from the hospital, while two, including a courageous train worker, remain in critical condition.
Anthony Williams, aged 32, faced charges of attempted murder and bodily harm at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court following the violent attack. Additionally, Williams is implicated in another attempted murder case on London’s DLR network earlier that month. During his court appearance, Williams, clad in a grey tracksuit, was denied bail due to the severity of the charges. The judge scheduled his next appearance at Cambridge Crown Court for December 1, 2025, as Williams stood silently when the charges were read aloud, claiming he had no fixed address.
