“Free Guinness Pints at Greene King for Six Nations Fans”

Must read

Greene King is offering complimentary pints of Guinness this weekend to coincide with the start of the Six Nations rugby tournament. To avail of this offer, individuals must make a reservation for any Six Nations match on February 7 through the Greene King website and present their booking confirmation at the bar.

This promotion is valid at all Greene King sports pubs, including Flaming Grill, Hungry Horse, and Belhaven, as part of the new Fans Reunited initiative. The campaign features Rugby World Cup champions Martin Johnson and Jason Robinson.

Zoe Bowley, Managing Director of Greene King pubs, expressed, “Fans Reunited recognizes the significant role of sports and the pub environment in uniting people. By launching alongside the Guinness Six Nations and providing reunited fans with a complimentary pint, we aim to facilitate moments where old acquaintances reconnect over a drink.”

Rugby legend Martin Johnson stated, “Rugby has a unique ability to bring people together. Bonds formed through sports are enduring, and Greene King’s Fans Reunited campaign celebrates this essence.” He emphasized the importance of creating moments that rekindle friendships and strengthen the community spirit that defines rugby and the Fans Reunited campaign.

In related news, the Treasury announced a 15% reduction in business rates for pubs and music venues starting in April as part of a substantial support package. This decision follows pressure on the government to act following budget changes in November and the conclusion of pandemic-related support.

Treasury minister Dan Tomlinson highlighted that the average pub could benefit from a £1,650 reduction in business rates next year. However, other hospitality sectors such as hotels, restaurants, and cafes will not receive similar additional support.

Emma McClarkin, chief executive of the BBPA, expressed satisfaction with the government’s response, stating, “This sector-specific relief package will alleviate immediate financial challenges posed by rising business costs and help sustain many establishments.”
