The most recent data on broadband complaints has revealed a mix of positive and negative trends. On a brighter note, the latest figures from Ofcom indicate an overall improvement in the broadband industry landscape.
Ofcom, the UK regulator, has reported a significant decline in complaints against the largest broadband providers in the UK. Complaints have decreased substantially from a peak of 40 per 100,000 customers in 2011 to just six per 100,000 customers in the first quarter of 2026.
Despite the overall decrease in complaints, TalkTalk customers have faced challenges as the provider did not perform as well as its competitors. According to Ofcom’s latest findings, TalkTalk received the highest number of customer complaints from January to March 2026, earning the title of the most complained-about broadband provider in the UK.
In response to the data, a spokesperson for TalkTalk mentioned ongoing efforts to enhance customer service by addressing the root causes of complaints and improving communication with customers during service disruptions.
The report by Ofcom also evaluated providers in the landline and pay-TV sectors. Utility Warehouse, Sky, Virgin Media, and Vodafone shared the top spot for landline services, each receiving only two complaints per 100,000 customers. For pay-TV services, TalkTalk and Sky emerged as the best-performing providers with just two complaints per 100,000 customers.
Cristina Luna-Esteban, Ofcom’s Director of Consumers and Retail Markets, emphasized the importance of companies maintaining a focus on service improvement and ensuring a positive customer experience. She encouraged dissatisfied customers to explore alternative providers, highlighting regulatory measures aimed at facilitating easier switching processes and promoting consumer choice.
