This lunar eclipse, dubbed the “almost blood moon,” reached its peak just after midnight ET, with Earth’s shadow covering 96 percent of the moon’s visible surface, creating a near-total lunar eclipse. It is advised to enjoy this celestial event as the next lunar eclipse is not expected until New Year’s Eve in 2028.
In Canada, residents in Vancouver were treated to the sight of the full moon during the lunar eclipse phase in the night sky. Similarly, Osborne Village in Winnipeg and the R.C. Harris Water Treatment Plant in Toronto captured stunning images of the partial lunar eclipse in the night sky.
Across other parts of the Americas, individuals at the George Observatory in Brazos Bend State Park, Texas, and spectators in Washington, D.C., observed the partial lunar eclipse, with the Washington Monument providing a striking backdrop. New Orleans showcased the partial lunar eclipse against the golden edge of the Caesars Superdome, while Ciudad Juarez in Mexico and Salvador, Bahia state, Brazil, also witnessed the celestial event.
In Europe, Warsaw displayed the moon during the partial lunar eclipse, while on Parliament Hill in Hampstead Heath, London, people gathered to watch the event. Lisbon saw a plane approaching for landing during the partial lunar eclipse, and Goutz, France, enjoyed a view of the reddish partial lunar eclipse in the night sky.
