An American woman recently shared a cautionary tale following a distressing incident at the Christmas Market in Leicester Square, located in central London. Kelly, a seasoned traveler, took to TikTok to warn others about her unfortunate encounter after falling victim to a robbery on Saturday, November 8.
What began as a pleasant family outing with her spouse and children quickly turned into a nightmare as night approached. Kelly recounted, “We had planned to leave the market by 7pm and were heading towards Chinatown when the incident occurred. I usually keep my phone in my front pocket, but due to a knee injury, I was walking slower and got bumped into.”
After experiencing a sudden tug on her neck, Kelly noticed a man who swiftly fled the scene. She narrated, “I continued walking with my husband, holding hands to avoid reaching into my pocket.” However, upon checking her pocket later, she realized her phone had been stolen.
Using the Find My iPhone app, Kelly and her family traced the device to a casino in Chinatown. Despite being denied entry by the staff, Kelly’s husband ventured inside, leading her to search for a staff member in a red coat. To her surprise, she found the suspected thief leaning against a wall nearby.
Although confident the man had taken her phone, Kelly hesitated due to safety concerns, urging her husband to leave the situation. Disheartened by the loss, she expressed her worries about personal data and sentimental items like a necklace that had also gone missing.
Following a visit to the police station, where other victims shared similar stories, Kelly faced disappointment as the case was swiftly closed without resolution. Reflecting on the ordeal, she vowed to avoid Leicester Square in the future, opting for more secure carrying options and highlighting the prevalent issue of theft in the area.
