Ruck expressed her satisfaction with her performance, stating, “This one [the women’s 100m butterfly] was a lot of fun.” She attributed her success to adequate rest and trust in her preparation. McIntosh, on the other hand, faced disappointment after failing to qualify for the A final in the women’s 400m freestyle event despite winning the B final. She took full responsibility for the outcome, admitting her misjudgment in the morning heats.
McIntosh acknowledged her frustration, vowing to learn from the experience. Meanwhile, Ruck continued to excel, earning her fifth medal in the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay event. Canadians Tierney and Ekk also made their mark, securing silver and bronze, respectively, in the men’s 200m backstroke. Tierney highlighted the significance of both athletes being on the podium, emphasizing the payoff of rigorous training.
In relay events, the Canadian women’s 4x100m freestyle team, led by Ruck, secured a bronze medal, while the Canadian men’s 4x100m freestyle team narrowly missed out on a podium finish.
