“Netflix Surprise-Drops New Witcher Film ‘The Rats: A Witcher Tale'”

Must read

Netflix has surprise-released a new spin-off movie set in The Witcher universe, coinciding with the launch of season four on October 30. Titled “The Rats: A Witcher Tale,” this prequel film delves into key characters from the latest eight-episode series and offers a glimpse into events post-finale.

Unlike its predecessor, “Blood Origin,” which explored the Continent’s history before the conjunction of the spheres, “The Rats” directly ties in with the main series by featuring familiar characters and continuing their story. The movie’s synopsis teases a daring heist orchestrated by a group of outlaws who must trust each other and a retired Witcher.

Clocking in at one hour and 22 minutes, the film follows the early exploits of the Rats and their encounter with bounty hunter Leo Bonhart, shedding light on his pursuit of them in season four. Viewers will also uncover Ciri’s fate following her confrontation with Bonhart.

Although “The Rats: A Witcher Tale” is now available for streaming, accessing it requires viewers to finish watching the new season entirely on Netflix before unlocking the movie. It may be discreetly located under “The World of The Witcher Collection” or within the “more like this” section when selecting The Witcher series.

The film boasts a cast that includes Freya Allen reprising her role as Ciri, Sharlo Copley as Leo Bonhart, and action star Dolph Lundgren as the rogue Witcher Brehen. Both “The Witcher” season four and “The Rats: A Witcher Tale” are currently available for viewing on Netflix.
