“Sky Launches Affordable Smart Home Plans in UK”

Must read

Sky has introduced two new smart home plans in the UK, offering internet-connected cameras and full cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month. This new offering competes with popular home security devices like Ring doorbells and Google’s Nest system. According to Sky, the cost savings compared to purchasing a Ring system through Amazon could exceed £100.

The first plan includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month, with an additional £15 upfront fee. It features full HD video recording, instant alerts to your phone, customizable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.

For those seeking more comprehensive security, the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ is available for £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and extra app features like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.

Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the goal of making high-quality smart technology more accessible with these new plans. The company aims to simplify home security management and affordability for customers, ensuring a seamless and effortless experience.

Sky’s expansion into standalone smart home products marks a shift from its previous focus on bundled security offerings like Protect Smart Home Insurance. This move allows customers to purchase Sky Smart Home products independently for the first time.

In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, with an additional cost for cloud recording access through a Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month.
